The Netflix documentary Lenox Hill may have been filmed prior to the COVID-19 pandemic [1], but if the trailer is any indication, the series will serve as a poignant reminder that doctors have always been on the front lines saving lives.

The eight-episode docuseries — which begins streaming on Netflix on June 10 — follows four doctors at Lenox Hill Hospital on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, including brain surgeons David Langer and John Boockvar, emergency room physician Mirtha Macri, and chief resident ob-gyn Amanda Little-Richardson. According to Rolling Stone, viewers will get a glimpse of "the day-to-day challenges of caring for patients [2]," as well as the doctors' eternal struggle to find balance, personally and professionally. The series was filmed from April 2018 to November 2019.

In the touching trailer, Dr. Little-Richardson can be heard saying, "I think there's such a thing as a calling; this is the space I'm supposed to be in," as images of her delivering a baby flash across the screen. One of the other doctors, in a voiceover, talks about the immense pressures of the job, but continues: "Everything we do here is for the patient."

At a time when we're relying on doctors more than ever [3], this documentary provides a deeper look [4] at the sacrifices they make every single day that will hopefully lead to an even greater appreciation for their work.
