Premiering on June 27, streaming service Peacock [1] will debut an original six-part docuseries titled Golden: The Journey of USA's Elite Gymnasts, which follows Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez [2], Morgan Hurd [3], Sunisa Lee [4], Konnor McClain [5], and MyKayla Skinner [6] as they compete for a Team USA spot at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. As the series follows these Tokyo Olympics hopefuls, commentary from elite gymnastics industry experts and athletes is interwoven with behind-the-scenes footage of the gymnasts training, competitions, and more. "You'll see the levels of anxiety, the level of pressure, the physical tolls that it takes," three-time Olympian and executive producer of Golden: The Journey of USA's Elite Gymnasts Dominique Dawes [7] said to POPSUGAR.
Knowing that this "eye-opening" project would be something that "fans would embrace," Dawes, aka Awesome Dawesome, was "completely on board" to become the executive producer for the docuseries after production company Uninterrupted [8]'s cofounder LeBron James approached her about producing this series. As she said, "Everything he touches becomes golden."
