Sometimes people want sugary and salty foods, and yes, even fried foods. The reason Pollan thinks people eat too much of this stuff is because it's sold everywhere, and cheaply too.
Start making your own junk food and chances are you'll eat less of it, because who has time to make french fries and cupcakes? You can also bet that homemade junk food is better for you than what's sold at the grocery store.
