Avocados: Love Them or Hate Them?

"I've been obsessed with avocados lately," I said to a co-worker while digging into a bowl of guacamole at lunchtime. Now that I've finally learned how to prevent them from browning, I can do nothing short of dreaming up which awesome avocado recipe to make next. One of my colleagues, however, doesn't feel the same way; she thinks they're slimy and have a fatty taste. Where do you stand when it comes to the green fruit?

LOVE them. I used to think they tasted like nothing, then I had guac and now I LOVE them in any shape or form, on burgers instead of mayo, in salads, with eggs for breakfast, alone with nothing (spoon them right out of the shell). Funny story, I make guac with lots of tomatoes and red onion and my mom loves that stuff in addition to anything lime or lemon - I begged her to try it for months and she refused saying just looking at it makes her want to gag...I don't know when or how but she gave in and tried it and now she buys them, slices them open and spoons them right out of the shell raw!

My god I love them. All I need is an avocado and some tortilla chips and I'm good.

Oooh, I love them!! So buttery and delicious :) You have to pick good ones, though...there is nothing worse than slicing open an avocado and having it be all brown and mushy inside.

I used to HATE avocados. I'd pick the little bits out of sushi! When I went to Mexico in January my boyfriend begged me to try the freshly made guacamole. I finally gave in. Ate like 1/8th of a teaspoon on a giant tortilla chip. And it wasn't so bad. So I ate a little more. And a little more. And now I'm hooked! :) I'm not at the point where I'll eat them plain, but I can eat them with most things.

Same here -- love affair with avocados. I have an avocado a day, and it's really good for my hair and skin. I like avocado with some freshly, cracked pepper. So buttery and good.

I love them a whole bunch! When I was younger, I thought they were gross. My dad used to put them in salads and I would complain that they would rub off on the lettuce. Now I can't get enough of them!

I've always loved them! My mom used to give me avo slices with salt while I waited for dinner, otherwise I'd circle the table picking the avocados out of everyone else's salads :)

I love them! When I was younger, I used to loathe them with a purple passion. Even when someone was cutting them open, I would gag from the smell. Now I cannot get enough of them. I use avocado in place of mayonnaise, which for some reason I am not crazy about them like I used to. The key for me is to pick a good one. I forget which one I prefer, the Haas or the other one. If there is a brown spot, then I toss it. I like it when it is tender and green.
