Killer App: Baked Brie With Pecan Crust and Jam

With its oozing center and rich, mild taste, baked brie is one holiday appetizer that many people look forward to. I'm definitely among this group: what's not to love about creamy, melted cheese?!

While brie en croute (brie that's baked in puff pastry) is a favorite, I prefer brie baked with nuts and jam. That way you can slather the warm mixture on crackers or crostini.

Although my recipe calls for pecans and strawberry jam, feel free to substitute other nuts, preserves, or even honey. This killer app is unbelievable easy to put together and requires virtually no culinary expertise. To look at my recipe,

Baked Brie With Pecan Crust and Jam


  1. 1/2 cup pecans
  2. 1 egg
  3. 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  4. 8 ounces brie
  5. 1/2 cup strawberry jam
  6. crackers or crostini, for serving


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Finely chop the pecans with a knife or food processor. Transfer the nuts to a shallow dish or plate.
  3. Combine the egg and cream in another shallow dish and whisk until blended.
  4. Dip the brie (with the rind on) into the egg mixture, then into the nut mixture, being sure to coat the entire chunk of cheese. Press on the nuts to adhere.
  5. Transfer the brie to a baking sheet covered with foil and spoon the jam over the top.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melting and warm. Serve immediately with crackers or crostini.

Serves 8.

I was just perusing for some goodies for hubby and I tonight, we're all alone - and that's a good thing in my book! I think we'll have this right now.
Wow, this looks beyond amazing. I love brie in all forms...and that's more or less how I slowly packed on an extra 20 pounds over the course of a few years :) I've since lost it (yay), but I try not to buy cheese; I just love it too much. However, if you're the type who can keep yourself from eating the WHOLE thing in one sitting, this is perfect.
