Banana Slicer: Love It or Hate It?

I think bananas are the most relaxing of fruits and I like to eat one everyday of every season. As much as I love bananas, I don't understand the point of this banana slicer. Unless one plans on making a massive amount of banana splits, why on earth would you need a banana slicer? I see the benefits of using it to add banana to your morning bowl of cereal, but is the amount of time saved really more than the amount of time it will take to wash the slicer by hand? I doubt it. What do you think?

I dunno, I like junk for the sake of being junk. I'd love to find this in a garage sale.

I only slice bananas for my cereal...and I use the spoon I'm going to eat the cereal with. No need to wash a knife or that thing.

That's HILARIOUS-for my kindergarden "invention" project, I made the exact same thing using plywood, screws, hinges and guitar strings (innovative little thing, wasn't I?), and even then I was thinking "This is really lazy..." HA! And yes-amen to the multitaskers!

I use Alton Brown's rule about kitchen gadgets - if it only serves one purpose, don't buy it. This banana slicer is a complete waste of money and kitchen space.

uh.. i like to peel by bananas in sections by hand thank you. using a slicer would just take the fun outta mashing the fruit up in my hands!

There is a smaller all plastic one available that's more convenient. If you're making something with a lot of banana slices, it can be handy. And some people have hand or wrist problems that makes cutting difficult.

I kind of like it. An easy way to get the perfect and same sliced bananas for my banana pudding. Like others have said though they are easy to slice so either way. I do not think it would be messy though because I do not like a soft banana. I like the green ones.

I think it would be more trouble than it's worth ... just peel & use a knife. :-)

People use avocado slicers and egg slicers and apple corers all the time. I don't really see how this is any different. Some people would use it, some wouldn't. For me it would probably just sit in the drawer taking up space.

I think it is cute. It could even double as a hotdog slicer and pepper slicer.

for pete's sake, who would be bothered to use this - just think of the horrible washing up to start with. a knife is soooo much simpler.

I think Jacques Pepin is sexiest when he takes a knife in hand and casually peels and slices a banana. This contraption would never do.

I don't hate it, but really really see no need for it unless you're a restaurant or something.

This is the lazy way out UNLESS you are one of those families who have mullllllllltiple children. I can see the use then.
