Beer Goes Seasonal

Most of you were appalled by the increase in budget beer sales and many or you prefer to drink local microbrews, so I thought I would bring attention to an interesting website created by the Brewer's Association. Seasonal Beer Throughout the Year is your resource for limited-edition, seasonal craft brews. A seasonal beer is a special style of beer, sometimes with flavors like pumpkin, made for a certain time of year. These beers are especially popular during Oktoberfest.

From harvest ales to Christmas brews, the site has you covered. The best thing about it is that you select your state after choosing the season. Not only are the brews seasonal, but the listings are local as well! The in-depth list provides the brewery's website and phone number for simple and quick ordering.

I'm definitely going to get my hands on some of Pyramid's Snowcap Ale, how about you?

Sam Adams Summer Ale is delicious, but the favorite summer brew in Michigan is Bell's Oberon. Surprisingly, between Bell's Octoberfest and Sam Adam's Octoberfest, Bell's lost horribly.

I'm also a huge fan of Sam Adam's Winter Ale.

Oo I want to try this! I love Pyramid's apricot hefeweizen (sorry for the atrocious spelling lol) and beer that tastes like winter/Chrismas sounds lovely :)

Okay, so just another reason this is the worst time of year to be pregnant! LOL. I LOVE so many of the seasonal ales. Besides Scotch ales being predominately available in the fall (and uber high in alcohol), I am a huge fan of the winter/holiday ales. Probably, one of my favorites is the Jubelale, which I've already told DH as soon as we see it in the *regular* store (not whole paycheck) I'm buying a 6pack to stash in the basement for after the baby comes. I also love the celebration ale by Sierra Nevada. Snow Cap is another yummy. The Liberty Christmas Ale is an annual tradition (another 6 pack that will be stashed away for post delivery enjoyment). And of course, a bomber of Santa's Private Reserve is always nice to crack in front of a crackling fire on Christmas Eve. *sigh* Might have to do all my holiday celebrating in February. LOL.

I LOVE seasonal brews. My favorite is the Sam Adams Winter Lager but now I'm definitely gonna try the Snow Cap too!

Oooh, there are so many delicious brews for the winter season but my favorites are Anderson Valley Winter Solstice and Lagunita's Brown Shugga. Anderson Valley is probably the best microbrewery in the US, the Summer Solstice is outstanding as well. The Brown Shugga is high in alcohol but it is by far my favorite thing about winter.

I like the Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale (that thing makes me tipsy after 1 bottle tho o.O), but just had the Pyramid Sno Cap in Berkeley Sunday night and it was pretty good. I also like the Anderson Valley Winter Solstice. I love seasonal beers, especially Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ales ((had a hell of a time finding a pumpkin ale one week before halloween! bevmo already moved those beers out and out popped Christmas beers. booo!)). Oh but thanks for the list. Found quite a few microbrews here in CA I have to taste from. Karl Strauss in San Diego has some good beer year round (RED TROLLEY!) but I remember their Belgian Abbey Ale is tasty. too bad they're not sold up in the Bay Area. And Rockbottom! The Blitzen Ale I found to be delicious. Plus, it comes in a logo pint glass. Woot. You have to go to the resturant to get it tho.

i LOVE this. when i was in college i was one of those NEVER TOUCH BEER EVER girls - but now i really like it. i think that one of the best things is that you can find microbrews that are really good and you don't get tired of them if they are seasonal too. i've never heard of the site before but i'm going to check it out.

Always been a fan of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale! Of course, I went to college in Chico (where the brewery is), so I have found memories!

Every year we look forward to Brooklyn's Chocolate Stout, that comes out around xmas. I'll have to check this site as my husband just mentioned there is a local microbrewery I didn't know about. Thanks!
