France’s Butter Shortage Means That Croissants Can’t Be Cooked Properly, and This Is a Tragedy

You can take a French girl out of the country, but you can never take the frenchness out of her. Although I left France a few years ago, I still eat croissants and pains au chocolat pretty much every day for breakfast — so, needless to say, I am taking my home country's current butter shortage très seriously. Not only does it mean that prices are about to go up, but it also means that croissants can't be cooked properly, and that is a tragédie. Think of the millions of people who will be disappointed when they turn up at their local boulangerie only to find out that they won't be able to eat their daily butter croissant? What a debacle. And, by the look of things, Twitter users agree with me.
