Colin Cowie's Tips For Hosting a Moroccan Rehearsal Dinner

For Your Rehearsal Dinner, Go Moroccan!

Editor's note: The following is a guest post written by Colin Cowie, wedding planner and lifestyle guru. This week Colin discusses the rehearsal dinner.

Your wedding reception is certainly the more formal of your celebratory events taking place around the wedding itself. The evening before, welcome friends from out of town, close family members, and your bridal party with a dinner that’s out of the ordinary and fun. Pick a theme and go with it: Italian, Moroccan, Greek, or even a down-home Texas BBQ. A relaxed and casual environment creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere that helps break the ice. In fact, it will make the wedding itself that much better.

For Cowie's tips on how to create a Moroccan paradise and to see his photos for inspiration, keep reading.

I love the idea of a Moroccan celebration. It’s colors, flavors, and even the waiters' attire sparks conversation and brings a group of friends and family that didn’t know one another before, close together. Seated on the ground on large pillows in a back garden or in a restaurant you love, dining on tagine and couscous makes for great conversation. Add a snake charmer, a belly dancer, or a great Moroccan CD and you’ll be setting a scene that won't be forgotten. Offer delicious cardamom martinis and you’ll be surprised by the speeches that follow. Remember, your rehearsal dinner is the chance for all those closest to you to make a speech and say their piece; have them do it now, or forever hold in peace.
