Coming Soon to a Starbucks Near You: Piadinis

Starbucks sure is indecisive. Last January it announced that breakfast sandwiches would be pulled from its stores. Then in July it changed its mind and simply modified the sandwich recipe. Now Starbucks has decided to expand the breakfast sandwich menu! Next week the coffee giant will introduce the Piadini, a stuffed breakfast sandwich made on artisan bread with either sausage, egg, and cheese or mushroom, spinach, and ricotta fillings. To ensure that the new sandwiches get maximum exposure, Starbucks is putting ovens in 800 more stores. Changing the menu is nothing new; earlier this month Starbucks added oatmeal, apple bran muffins, and multigrain rolls to the morning menu and within the next year, the company plans to broaden the lunch menu.

I'm excited to try the new breakfast offerings — the spinach feta wrap is one of my favorite hangover cures. How about you? Are you sick of the Starbucks sandwich talk, or will you enjoy the Piadinis?

I agree the food there is expensive. But I love the eggs Florentine sandwich. Guess that's over.

I'm excited to try them. I wouldn't get them often because I just can't afford to go to SBucks much, but when I get the chance I love to get their bfast sandwiches.

I love the Spinach Florentine breakfast sandwich...It has always been one of my favorite. I almost cried when they said they were taking them away! It will be fun to try out the new offerings :)

I love the oatmeal with the nut topping and a dash of whole milk. It's nice to be able to spend less than $5 and get a hot breakfast to go without it being sweet pastries, heavy bagels or fake cheese melted on fake eggs. I find breakfast the hardest meal to take care of for myself everyday. Starbucks oatmeal? I LOVE IT!

I always wondered why Starbucks didn't offer more breakfast choices...Now that I'm over them and their over-pricing, it really doesn't matter.

I am so exited that they will have a spinach, mushroom, & ricotta breakfast sandwich. I hate eggs, so I never get a breakfast sandwich.

I've tried their breakfasts when traveling and they're not bad. I wouldn't make a daily habit of them, since the price is ridiculous, but they're good in a pinch.

I prefer local, independent coffee shops to Starbucks, but I've heard good things about their oatmeal. With all the comings & goings, I feel like they're getting a bit desperate.

I'm with desidesi. Nothing beats a breakfast sandwich on a warm roll from a local deli (straight from the mouth of a Jersey girl). The price is right and the taste is usually better.

I gotta say... the oatmeal was tasty. I'm sort of torn by this new announcement though. Starbucks, make up your mind! Isn't coffee and baked goods enough? Just do those well!

i've tried they're breakfast sandwiches and they were so bad i'd rather go to a deli for a sausage, egg and cheese on a roll any day now THAT is hangover food

well i can't say that i've ever had one of their breakfasts but i can see why they would want to be competitive seeings as how DD Is really jumping on that trend. i like that S-bucks has oatmeal now even if i don't eat that since it's a healthy alternative to bread/cheese/sausage/bacon wraps. i hope that this some how adds more revenue into the brand since it seems like things aren't so stellar for them right now.

I recently used a free coupon to try their oatmeal and it was pretty darn good. The only problem with Starbucks' food offerings is that they're so darn expensive. There's no way I can justify a $2.50 oatmeal. Of course I'm completely reasonable in spending $4.00 on an iced coffee...haha. Their egg salad sandwiches (which are the best I've ever had) are $5.00! I can't see myself paying $9 or $10 just for a drink and a sandwich. They should stick to coffee and bakery items.
