Culinary New Year's Resolutions

Let's Dish: What Are Your Culinary Resolutions?

Since food plays a huge part of my life, I not only come up with ways to improve myself personally, but I also create a list of culinary resolutions I hope to achieve in the New Year. In 2009, I wanted to learn more about cheese, and in 2010, I concentrated on making my own ingredients.

For 2011, I would like to cook more vegetarian and vegan cuisine, develop more original recipes, and become a more informed wine drinker. Now that I've shared my cooking goals, I want to hear all about yours! What do you want to accomplish in the kitchen in the next 12 months?

eat out less, except when traveling then splurge on local cuisine. make even healthier food choices for dinner and consume less alcohol.

Get to know old world wines better. Host more dinner parties. Make more international foods. Eat out at least mediocre, convenient restaurants and save resources for ethnic dives and haute cuisine. Travel more for food tours around the US!

I wanna learn more about how to cook in general, I want to save my friends and I money by having them all over for a pot luck type dinner instead of all of us going to the same places all the time, and I want to learn/perfect ten new recipes this year (I'd do more but, I just started recovering from my battle with my Crohn's and am starting school again after a year break for recovery.)

Since I'm already a super wife/homebody; I'm gonna keep getting better at my foodie craft. I made garam masala for some of my Christmas gifts and it was such a blast. I toasted the spices and ground them in my molcajete, and of course they came out perfect! Happy New Year!

Making a lot of things myself, such as mead and mozzarella. Getting better at cake decorating. And maybe finding some dishes that don't take hours to prepare.. I love cooking, but it always takes up a massive part of my day.
