Cut Cake With Kake Kut'rs

Cut Cake With Kake Kut'rs

As you may know, I'm of the Alton Brown "No unitaskers in the kitchen" camp. However, I just saw this infomercial for Debbie Meyer's Kake Kut'rs ($16.90 for a set of two) and am actually pretty intrigued. The tool, which easily slices cake into various sizes — small, medium, large, tiny, you get to choose! — also doubles as a lifter. You squeeze on the piece you've cut and lift it over to the plate. The video makes it look really simple, and it would definitely be safer than a knife. Since it's a slicer and a lifter, then maybe Alton would approve of its multiuse functionality? Probably not, but it's still pretty cool.

I'm an idiot. I just saw the one for round cakes. Might be worth finding space in my kitchen for.

I love it but I don't have any extra space in my kitchen at all. Would it work for round cakes?

Oh wow! I saw this on QVC about two years ago, and I've been looking for it to come back. So, Debbie Meyer is at HSN now... I wonder if her kake sav'r(sp?) is back-- it was a cake saver, to keep cakes from getting stale.

I own the Triangular slice cutter and took it to work for an office party and every loved it. I am thinking about getting the set for a co-workers wedding gift since she seemed to really like it.

I think this is great! I can't tell you the dozen times I've had people drop a piece of cake they were putting on my plate because it fell off the knife or pie cutter they used as a base.

love these....and they'd probably make the wedding showers i'm throwing as a bridesmaid so much easier....seems a lot faster than regular cake cutting!

okay how handy is this? that way you don't have to get your fingers all over people's cake, although that never stops me from eating any.

Awesome idea! I want them! Although I have to admit I laughed a little when the cake dropped and before she had been talking about no slip. Yes, I know she let go of the handles, but it was still a little funny. What can I say... I am a little mean sometimes

OMG! Our family (except my goofy older sister) totally subscribes to AB's no unitasker's mantra, but this would prevent the 'phews from cutting those 5"x5" chunks of sheet cake for people. Plus wait..I'm thinking you could use it to cut homemade pizza or other items of that nature, like if you made and froze a lasagna and popped it out of the casserole while frozen then cut it with this thing. You could cut cornbread. Eh I give up. Man that is a stretch.

I love it! I hate it when I cut cake and ends up falling (on the icing side). Cool find, YumSugar!
