no, not really - i mean when i am making pasta i taste it to make sure it is cooked, but not for flavour. this is probably bad as sometimes the food is super-spicy but oh well. :)

I really only taste it if I'm unsure about how it's coming along.

I always taste while I cook, although I try not too. My cat even loves trying to get a sample while she watches me.

I always do, to taste for seasoning and to remember my grandmother. She used to tell me about cooking when she was young (in farm country); all the women would cook and the men would eat first, leaving the women to eat whatever was leftover. The women would all "sample" in the kitchen to be sure they got enough and to get everything while it was still hot! We've come a long way from that now, but I still like to sample! :)

hmmm is it odd that I usually taste but spit it out so I don't get full before dinner or lose my appetite? I like experiencing the meal with other people...

It's part of cooking, isn't it? Quality control -- yeah, that's what it is...

Sometimes, if it's a new recipe.

Not very often. I'm quite horrible with seasoning anyway, so... :(

Of course! That's half the fun of cooking!

I'll confess: sometimes I sample so much that I'm not even hungry for the meal.

I enjoy that especially when making baked goods like muffins & cupcakes - I absolutely *love* raw dough.

For every night meals, I usually just taste for seasonings. But there are some things I HAVE to be sure taste good before giving to anyone else, like icing on a cake or cookies. Just to be sure. ;)

I always taste as I go, to make sure it's good to serve to others :P

Heck yes! And if it's really good, I may or may not still be hungry by the time everything is ready... :rotfl:

Not if it's something I make a lot. I can usually tell by how it looks if it needs something.

I use Sofrito (the latin household flavor base consisting of herbs and spices, e.g. red peppers, garlic, parsley, cumin, oregano) and I usually just taste for how much salt is needed.

I don't know what I would be tasting for. I wouldn't know if I should add anything.

Tasting is a must! :) And yummy too.

Who doesn't? You have to at least make sure things taste right!

I check especially for seasonings. When I make meatballs I like to check the flavor since I experiment with the levels of each seasoning in them.
chibarosa chibarosa 10 years
Yes, and not just to check the seasonings. I always "taste" way too much, and it's detrimental to my waistline :(
