Do You Use the Word "Moist" to Describe Cakes?

Do You Use the Word "Moist" to Describe Cakes?

We got into the weirdest conversation here at the Sugar HQ; it was all about the word "moist." Turns out that a lot of people either hate it, or know someone who hates it. I don't have a problem with it, especially because I can't figure how else to describe a perfectly moist cake. How about you guys, what do you think of the word?

I WATCH DEAD LIKE ME! Right after I read the title, it made me think of Joy and how she thinks "moist" is a dirty word :) Amazing show, too bad it was cancelled!

I use "sexy." Seriously-I don't think to use the word moist when a good cake is involved; for me, when the texture is right it's silky and plays across my tongue like jello or custard and it always comes out as "AH MAH GAH this cake is SO SEXY!!!"

Moist is a good descriptoe. What about dry? Can we call it sandpaper?

weeeeeird. I had no idea this was such a controversy! And for those who think all cakes are dry . . . ever had 3 leches? Depending on which country you eat it in it goes from undeniably moist to positively drenched.

I love moist cake. It's either moist or dry. Dry and flaky cake is the worst.

bleh.. i hate saying the word 'moist'... i'm not sure why, exactly. maybe it's because i associate moist with crotch - i know how ridiculous that must seem though! I never said that my reasoning makes sense!

What's wrong with the word 'moist'? And without it, how would those of you who don't like that use of the word describe the difference between a dry cake and a moist one? Moist, moist, moist, moist...

It never occurred to me that when talking about CAKE someone would get her PANTIES in a twist over the word MOIST. Sorry, just had to say it! I think I made my point though. When talking about cake, who would think of that as dirty? Now if we were talking about anatomy or something, moist has QUITE a different tone. That I can understand. Cake is delicious, and when prepared properly is moist and scrumptious.
