Dunkin' Donuts to Expand to West Coast

Dunkin' Donuts Moves West

We've been following what Dunkin' Donuts has been up to for years and we'll finally be able to see if the chain lives up to its hype. After years of customers begging and pleading, Dunkin' is expanding west.

The Massachusetts-based doughnut and coffee chain plans to open up to 250 new stores in the next two years — and to hit the 15,000 mark in the next 20 years. (To put things in perspective, McDonald's currently operates 14,000 locations in America.) So far, research analysts have been skeptical of Dunkin' Donuts's success outside of the Northeast, given the disproportionate number of coffee and snack stores in the West.

As someone who's long been enamored with the chain's unique items, like cocoa yeast doughnuts and sausage pancake bites, I'm hoping that's not the case. West Coasters, what do you think of a new Dunkin' Donuts in your neighborhood?

Woo! This is what I've been waiting for since I moved to SF from Boston two years ago. People don't understand it's not the donuts that are the biggest draw--it's the COFFEE that I miss the most! (bagels are really good too!)

YES YES YES!!! I've been waiting for news of expansion! I know they didn't do well here (CA) in the past (ten years ago?) but I will definitely be visiting my local Dunkin Donuts for their coffee if they open one up near me!

Double Ds didn't make it in Minnesota back in the day, but I have heard rumblings that they are thinking of trying again. I'm not a donut hound, but when the rare urge strikes, I agree with hanmeng about better donuts being found elsewhere. However, they do have pretty good joe, and it's not too spendy.

Meh. I've been to three different donut shops in L.A., and their donuts are better than what I've had at Dunkin Donuts.
