After its successful debut of Coconut M&M's, Mars has unveiled Twix Coconut, just in time for warmer weather. Much like the lethal combo of chocolate and caramel, in my mind, the tropical fruit and the Summer season go hand in hand. On my last trip to the drugstore, I couldn't resist picking up one of the new candy bars as a grab-and-go treat. But does it live up to its limited-edition hype? To find out the verdict, read on.
Like the original, Twix Coconut comes in a pack of two caramel- and chocolate-topped finger biscuits. At first glance and smell, it appears the same as the classic. Upon first crunch, the coconut flavor reveals itself in subtle, nutty form; it's only at the end that a rather artificial coconut aftertaste becomes detectable, and even overpowering.
Although the chocolate in this Mars bar is the real deal, it sounds like it might be asking too much for the coconut flavor to be authentic, too. If you don't mind generic coconut flavorings, you'd probably enjoy this Twix. Otherwise, stay put with the original. What are your thoughts on the candy bar?
