Girl Scout Cookies Have Landed!

On Friday afternoon, as I was strolling around town, I noticed the first real signs of Spring: Girl Scout Cookies! So unless you've already ordered yours, you've got 13 days to get your hands on this year's offerings. From now until Mar. 16, you'll be able to find Girl Scouts on nearly every major street corner and grocery store parking lot. Some troops are on a different schedule, but you can find a troop near you and indulge!

Personally, I've got a thing for the Samoas, I love the toasted coconut, caramel, and chocolate. Although I wouldn't turn down a Thin Mint or a Tagalong (peanut butter and chocolate) either. And I always end up buying at least one box (they should be $3.50 a box).

So tell me, do you end up buying Girl Scout Cookies? Or do you think they're overrated?

I buy many boxes of Thin Mints every year and then send them in care packages to my relatives in college and working abroad. The niece in China was totally dancing and hopping up and down when she got the Thin Mints (she sent video)! What has me very disappointed is that last year a new cookie called Cinnamon Cafe was being offered which was soooo delicious and it is not available this year. Guess sales weren't good enough to bring it back. :( Looking forward to next year... :)

I love GS cookies. I long for them every year. I seem to never get enough, even though I buy MANY boxes!!

My daughter is a first year Brownie and I am Cookie Mom. The troop has sold about 2000 boxes! The cookies sell themselves because they are that once a year treat AND they are a great fund raiser for an awesome organization! And if you have checked lately, cookies in the store are not any cheaper!!

Stick the thin mints in the freezer! Scrumptious. But yes, they are a bit pricey :(

$3.50/box? I paid $4 per box lat year! I love these cookies! They're like the Cadbury eggs; a special treat once a year.

They are $4 a box here, and they never taste like they're made from real girl scouts. Not worth it.

I cant go a year without my thin mints. One year, I had forgotten to get some, and I went so low as to buy them off of Ebay!

@ millarci - GS season isn't over for me and I'm in NJ. :) We didn't even get our cookies yet -- my neighbor said they'll be here next week! Now, I do have a vent about the GS cookies. There are two bakers - ABC and Little Brownie. My husband got cookies at work from a guy and they were made by ABC and the thin mints were HORRID. I was soooo sad. :( I asked my neighbor and she said they use Little Brownie, so yay, the better cookies are a commin'! :)

LaLaLaurie06 - you're referring to the Juliette. I miss those also. Millysaps - I was one for 13 years also and I enjoyed my time selling cookies. As for myself, I bought four boxes (two Somoas, one Thin Mint, one Lemon Chalet Creme) and two and a half are gone already. Luckily, my niece's troop will be having a booth sale on the 15th, so I will get some more before they're gone until time.

I absolutely LOVE girl scout cookies!!!!! The thought of them is making my mouth water as I type. I could easily eat a box in about 10 minutes or less. If you like the thin mints and don't want to wait all year for cookie season, Kibbler makes cookies called grasshoppers, they are just like thin mints and they come in the 100 calorie packs too!

there were some girl scouts hanging out at my grocery store this weekend, and they totally approached me with sad faces, telling me they weren't able to go to camp because they hadn't been selling enough cookies. i loved camp as a girl scout, so of course i bought a box. for $4.50! those kids owe me a dollar! but you know what? those were some of the best thin mints ever!

I like Girl Scout cookies, and I'll munch on them if they're around, but I'd prefer homemade any day! :-)

Has anyone else seen the Girl Scout cookie flavors that Edy's ice cream has??? I was THISCLOSE to buying the Samoa flavor! And they're the slow churned kind too!!! See, I didn't buy Samoas this year, because they are my favorite, and I was afraid I'd eat the whole box!!! I do regret buying that ice cream though... I should go back and get it...

And they're so not overrated. Okay, so maybe you can find similar cookies year round for less (like grasshoppers)...but a portion of the cookie sales are going towards a very good cause. You're supporting both the troop and the Girl Scout council at large. How can that ever be overrated??? I did my time selling cookies as a young girl scout and once even wore a giant cookie outfit to sell cookies in the Houston Downtown Tunnel, so I feel compelled to buy at least 3 or 4 boxes from booths situated at the grocery store.

Cookie season already came and went here. I'm hoarding the last of the thin mints in the freezer.

I love Samoas!! There's no like knock off that you can get at the grocery store, so I just have to buy them whenever I get the chance.
