Domaine Fournier Sauvignon ($14), the only French wine of our tasting, was the hands-down favorite. At 12 percent ABV, it has the lowest alcohol level of all wines in our tasting; it has an unmistakable jalapeño scent, flinty minerality, and an overall elegant quality. We especially like the wine's almost charcoal ember-like finish. We'd enjoy it with grilled white meat and fish.
