Ikea Is About to Make Your Shopping Trip Even Sweeter

Jun 27 2015 - 4:00am

You know what any shopper could use during a long trip through Ikea? A sugar high! Ikea US is making that possible by rolling out a new in-store candy shop (in the Swedish Food Market) called Lördagsgodis, translated to "Saturday candy." According to the press release [1], the "Scandinavian tradition dat[es] back for several decades, in which children were allowed to visit the local store every Saturday for a bag of candy." Ikea's candy shop will include 45 different candies, gummies, sours, marshmallows, chocolates, and licorice.

Customers can create their own mix-and-match bags of candy for $8 a pound. These are not the candies you can find at your local mall. All the sweets are made from Swedish recipes and are imported from Europe, which means you can expect high-quality confections. Ikea boasts the sweets contain no trans fats, no high-fructose corn syrup, and no GMOs, and they are dyed with natural colors. Take a look at the press release [2] for the complete list of participating Ikea US stores and well as when the Lördagsgodis shops will open throughout this Summer.
