Let's Dish: Hell's Kitchen 4.5

Let's Dish: Hell's Kitchen 4.5

Last night on Hell's Kitchen things started to heat up. The chefs clearly showed signs of stress and low morale. They competed individually, each making their own gourmet pizza. The girls won the challenge for the third week in a row, beef wellington was finally mentioned — I was beginning to wonder if Ramsay had taken it off the menu, the dinner service was completed, and Ben looked like a donkey, again. To discuss all of this and more,

I was surprised at how well the chefs did during the gourmet pizza challenge. I thought it was going to be another signature dishes disaster. Now let's talk:

  1. Do you think they had to make their own pizza dough? Or did Ramsay provide each chef with premade dough?
  2. Does anyone know what a ding-a-ling is? Where is this term from? Petrozza called Matt one and I found it insanely funny . . .
  3. Why can't the boys work together?
  4. Wasn't it ironic when Ben — who has a mohawk — was making fun of Louross' mohawk?
  5. Were you surprised by Vanessa's decision to leave Hell's Kitchen?
  6. Petrozza's meat-slicing trick: gross or acceptable?
  7. In your opinion, who is a better chef, Rosann or Christina?

In case you missed it, here's the best of Gordon Ramsay!

  • On gourmet pizzas: You take something ordinary and turn it into something extraordinary and serve it for an extraordinary price. This is my white truffle pizza. Who would have thought there could be a $200 pizza?!
  • On Matt's crappy eggs: Ugh, they're like implants!
  • On Rosann's mashed potatoes: They're like piss cream, what is that? I don't know when you are going to think about waking up, but I hope it's soon. Can you stop tapping and do something? She gets confused over a f***ing vegetable. Rosann: not good enough!
  • On Jen's comment that she has the power to control her status in the kitchen: Let me just tell you something, that's my f***ing job chef!
  • On Rosann's performance in the kitchen: Madam, you completely screwed your team!

Finally, did anyone catch the very end of American Idol? Ryan Seacrest hilariously introduces Gordon Ramsay as the "nicest chef on TV."

I was surprised and disappointed that Vanessa left the kitchen. Chef Ramsay was all but encouraging her to stay, something that he didn't have to do. I still feel that Ben has potential, and that is why Chef Ramsay seems to jump on him alot. But how funny was Ben's donkeymobile??? I laughed so hard that I almost shot a kidney out of my nose! Part of me keeps waiting for Ben to say to Chef Ramsay "If you're going to ride my ass, at least pull my mohawk!" Never gonna happen, though. *sigh* As for the term dingaling, do yourself a favor and go to Youtube. Punch in "my dingaling Chuck Berry." The answer will be amusingly clear! ;)

so i missed last week's episode and didn't know that vanessa burned her hand - that's not good. i'm a little sad that she's gone, but i kind of wish that maybe she would come back later in the season! as for the pizza...i would assume that gordon gave them the dough. they didn't have enough time to make it themselves i don't think.

Chibarosa, you're right about christina and the desserts. She repeatedly asked for help and was ignored. i thought Gordon would have been all over that and sent someone over. Also about vanessa, I'm not surprised she left but I don't think it was the right decision. It must have been very difficult not to feel useful. But since she had the heart to heart with Gordon, I felt she should have asked how he felt she could be the most help to her team. I know its not his place to do that, but he seemed to be encouraging her to stay.

1. I assumed that since the punishment for the guys losing the pizza challenge was to do all the pizza prep for both teams, that they made the dough and portioned it then. 2. Sometimes Petrozza cracks me up, and I totally agree with him about Matt. Jeez. He IS a ding-a-ling. 3. The boys aren't a team - they're a group of "me-first" people. 4. Meh. 5. I'm still on the fence about Vanessa. It's a shame that she was injured, because I was interested in how she would develop. I can't imagine being in her position - do you stay and risk holding your team back? And I say that because she was emotionally and mentally compromised, not just physically. I think she got the fear and couldn't shake it. 6. I did not think Petrozza's fix would fly AT ALL. I thought Scott would throw that plate of meat right at his face. Good for him though, for showing initiative. 7. I REALLY like Roseann, like A LOT, but Christina knows her stuff. They both got flustered in last night's episode, but honestly Christina was supposed to be working desserts with Jen. Jen was assigned hot apps and desserts. Where was Jen when Christina asked for help? I'm surprised that Gordon didn't say something about that. So overall I'm glad that neither Christina nor Louross was kicked out, because I like them both. I think they both know their stuff. Matt has got to be next to go.

That whole episode was comical. And whats wrong with California Pizza Kitchen anyway, or did I hear that wrong?

1. I would guess it was premade because they all seemed to get things done pretty fast. The dough I've made is better when its made ahead and has risen once. 3. The boys team in several seasons have been slow and bull headed, this batch has quite a few morons in it though. 5. Yes! I swear, she JUST had said how she isn't a quitter, and then she quits. Even if she couldn't perform as well as she liked, she should have atleast stayed in the next service to see how it went. I skipped a few because I was actually in the kitchen for parts of the show. JannaR, I agree.... this has to be the worst group of chefs.

Why oh why is Louross still in that kitchen? I wish Ramsay would take a sharp knife and cut that stupid mohawk off.

1. For the initial pizza challenge, I would doubt that they made their own dough: that stuff takes a while to rise. 2. A ding-a-ling? Absolutely - it's an empty head that rings like a bell. Or possibly a penis. 3. Because they're boys. Boys don't play nice. 4. Ben's mohawk fits with the facial hair. Louross's mohawk makes him look like a toilet bowl cleaner. 5. I was pretty bummed about Vanessa - she was one of the stronger competitors and I was looking forward to seeing her cook more. I'm pretty pissed that Jen is still in the kitchen though. And her discussion of Christina's talking was dripping with irony. 6. Totally acceptable. You do what you need to do. 7. Christina, but she's really annoying all the same. I was totally up for Corey's devious ways the first time she did them. But after Ramsey blocked her this week, she just looks like an idiot. I'm rooting for Ben, now that Vanessa's out of the kitchen. Serious bummer.

Yeah Rosann pissed me off with her tapping!

I really think this is the worst team of chefs Ramsey has had on Hell's Kitchen. I was surprised when Vanessa left, think that Christine is the better chef and dislike Louross and Ben. Otherwise this is to paraphrase Louross, "the most boringest season of Hell's Kitchen ever!"

mashed potatoes...seriously?

I found it odd that she left but I guess she made the right call. The boys are clearly just very immature. Pretty sad when a bunch of girls can get along better than guys. Christina is the better cook. Who cannot cook mashed potatoes and mashed carrots?!
