Milk Drinking Habits Poll

What Type of Milk Do You Drink?

Got (one percent) milk? The Daily Mail reports that after a British watchdog organization cautioned against excessive intake of saturated fat, sales of one percent milk have skyrocketed in the United Kingdom. The Food Standards Agency warned that whole milk can lead to heart disease and clogged arteries, so shoppers swapped out whole milk in exchange for one percent, which contains more flavor than skim milk. It now accounts for 10 percent of sales.

I'm surprised to hear that people have just started switching from whole milk in Britain, considering whole milk fell out of favor years ago in the States. Do you drink whole milk?

I do not like the taste of white milk, but I use it to cook with and I only use skim milk. You would be amazed at how many calories you can cut by using that.

Hm, I drink the MEJI Low Fat milk. It tastes the same as whole fat milk, to me at least.

Whole milk here. I think skim is like drinking nasty water. I didn't taste right.

Skim milk here is2% fat. I prefer Semi skim (3% fat) but it's expensive. If I can't get skim I have soy. Full fat milk makes me feel queazy.

Skim milk...1% is ok, and 2% and Whole are just too thick. I grew up with 2% at home, and whole with the grandparents. Gradually as my mom dieted, the milk % went down. I dabbled in soy for awhile too but the only ones that don't make me gag are the chocolate so....skim it is!

I grew up on 2% so whole milk tastes too thick. I rarely drink it now in any variety.

I've lived in the UK for the past few years. When I first moved here the only milk choices were whole, semi-skimmed (2%) and skim. Now there is 1% available but it's only at one chain of supermarkets. This chain doesn't have a branch in my neighborhood so I have skim at home. Luckily the office kitchen stocks 1% and that's where I eat my daily bowl of cereal. I've also recently replaced my daily latte with green tea and soy milk and found a vast reduction in digestive problems. Maybe I should bite the bullet and go totally soy.

I drink soy. I've tried to switch to rice or almond milk but always go back to soy. Ill drink a splash of 2% in my coffee because it doesnt add flavor like soy does. Also, hyzenthlay20 Im the same way. If I drink too much 2% then it hurts my stomach, but if I have even a little bit of cream, half and half, whip cream or any milk product with a high fat content it kills me.

I grew up drinking skim, but my husband was repulsed by the very idea; he wanted 2%. So we compromised and got 1%. Then I realized that he never touches the milk anyway. I haven't switched back to skim, though I think I should one of these days.

Lactose intolerant here too, plus other food allergies, so only soy milk for me. Before I would always drink 2% though and loved it.

Raw whole milk (have a cow share, legal in Colorado) or soy/rice milk.

I prefer the taste of 1%, but it upsets my stomach, so I switched to skim. I've figured out that it isn't psychosomatic, but I haven't heard of the percentage of fat affecting tolerance . . . Oh well, so long as I can still use it in my coffee :) I make cold-brew coffee that's really strong, so that I can get all the coffee flavor with a LOT of milk, and get a good bit of calcium in there too!

I switched to skim milk about 5 years ago. The whole family drinks it.
