Kraft Heinz recalled over 2 million pounds of Oscar Mayer turkey bacon, produced between May 31, 2015, and August 6, 2015, due to "spoilage-related consumer complaints [1]." In other words, the turkey bacon may have spoiled before its "Best When Used By" date and may make consumers susceptible to foodborne illness. The USDA has determined this case as a Class II recall, defined as "a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product."

The USDA urges you to avoid consuming the following products:

• Oscar Mayer "Selects Uncured Turkey Bacon" (UPC 0 4470007633 0) with "Best When Used By" dates of Aug. 24, 2015, through Oct. 26, 2015.
• Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon "Smoked Cured Turkey Chopped and Formed" (UPC 0 7187154874 8) with "Best When Used By" dates of Aug. 28, 2015, through Oct. 20, 2015.
• Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon "Smoked Cured Turkey Chopped and Formed" (UPC 0 7187154879 3) with "Best When Used By" dates of Sept. 3, 2015, through Oct. 30, 2015.

Although Oscar Mayer has yet to make announcements regarding refunds, customers with any concerns or questions about the recall can reach Kraft Heinz Consumer Relations Center at (800) 278-3403. For now, it might be best not to bring home the bacon.
