Another Homemade Pizza

Homemade pizza is in heavy dinner rotation around here; we love it! So does Lauren; she recently shared a newfound technique for dealing with difficult dough.

I have been alternating between Trader Joe's pizza dough and another brand. Every time I had used the wheat Trader Joe's pizza dough it was always a disaster: first the dough isn't as easy to stretch and no matter what I tried, flour or cornmeal, the dough inevitably stuck. This time I tried parchment paper underneath while baking. To my surprise it worked like a charm, I always pre-bake my crust before adding the toppings. This veggie pizza was a combination of mushrooms, onions, bell pepper, tomato, fresh mozzarella, a touch of jarred vodka cream sauce, and purple basil! Delicious and now I don't have to give up the wheat crust.

@gummibears I just bought my first pizza stone and didn't use any parchment paper. For the pizza tonight I still flipped my crust since I like it crisp but I might try heating up the pizza stone before hand and seeing if it results in a good crust. All about experimenting in the kitchen! But honestly homemade pizza is way easier than I would have ever imagined, only takes a couple tries! Good luck, hope to see what you make!

I put some olive oil on the pizza pan and then stretch the dough on it. I like it because it makes the pizza dough a little more crisp than without it.

I love grilled pizza! Hope you will snapped a couple photos of your next one and share your recipe! Leek and shrimp pizza sounds way tasty!

Have you tried putting a little extra virgin olive oil on crust and grilling the it, along with your veggy toppings? Grilled pizza is the best, just add a little kosher or sea salt to the crust after brushing some oilve oil on it to prevent it from sticking and flavor and it is amazing!!! I have topped my pizza with your selections, but also leeks and shrimp... yumm!
