What's Your Favorite Road Food Restaurant?

With Memorial Day weekend upon us, the travel season has officially kicked into full gear. But times like these mean Americans will be favoring road trips over tours abroad. For those of you who enjoy hitting the highway, do share with me: what's your favorite road food pit stop?

I love Wendy's on road trips. The only fast food I eat is McDonald's at the airport and rest-stop Wendy's so it's a real treat for me. Although, if time allows Friendly's ice cream makes for a lovely afternoon tea.

Denny's has veggie burgers that are surprisingly yummy and you can order them without cheese.

Agreed on just finding a local diner or little spot. I hate chains as a rule and don't want one when I'm traveling.

Andersen's Pea Soup! Yeah!!! The best thing about road tripping between L. A. and the Bay Area. I do like Cracker Barrel through. No Sugar Added Apple Pie rocks.

I LOVE Cracker Barrel!! I like the little country store and my husband and I really like to sit by the fireplace and play checkers together. Plus, they have pretty good, cheap food and there's usually something that everyone can enjoy. Plus they have that little hopping game that you can play at the table while you wait :) My uncle is all about Waffle House though. He has to wait until they make a trip down south before he can eat there though...we don't have them here in the North.

I'm with fuzzies, also. But Cracker Barrel is great in a pinch because they serve breakfast all day. :-)

I"m with fuzzles too- I'd much rather take a chance on a mom n pop place than eat at a chain.

I do the same as fuzzles.

When on the road, I like to look for a busy Mom and Pop type diner or ask a local to recommend a restaurant. I want to try something that I can't get back home.
