Say Goodbye to Plain Old Table Salt

Did you know that in ancient times salt crystals were a highly prized commodity and considered white gold for their miraculous preservative and disinfectant qualities? The word salary actually derives itself from the old Latin term for soldiers who were paid with salt. These days salt is an equally important commodity that comes in many shapes, types, and sizes. Flavored salts have taken the cooking world by storm and are used to add a flair to an assortment of dishes. Sea salt has replaced regular old table salt in my kitchen and I've even mixed salt with other spices to make my own version of seasoned salt. Gray salt is popular as is freshly ground salt crystals and fleur de sel. Restaurants and bars have increased use of spiced salts to add a special touch to the rims of their cocktails. Why not experiment with sassy salts in your very own kitchen?

I rarely use good ol' Mortons anymore except in baking recipes. We ♥ kosher salt in my house. And Nature's Seasons or whatever its called. Hmmm...I think you're inspiring me to mix some of my own. I could buy a couple of those little salt shakers from Target and have several on hand at any time. :jumpin:
