Six Gallon Beverage Dispenser: Love It or Hate It?

"Elegant simplicity" isn't the best adjective for this Six-Gallon Beverage Dispenser ($35.75) but it certainly is simple. The spigot-equipped bucket would solve one of my biggest party headaches: My pitchers are relatively small, so I end up mixing batch after batch of whatever drink I'm serving and miss part of the party. Would you use this bucket (perhaps with some added adornments) or is it too ugly for you?

The container makes me think of paint and the bucket for car cleaning in our garage! Eek! I want to like it but those images keep on popping in my head! I think that would make drinking anything from it quite difficult. :|

I like the idea, you could create something to go over it.

Love it. It's not very classy but it's awesome. I'd put stickers on it or something. Lucky for me my family isn't the most classy group and I could definitely get away with using this. My friends would love it.

us southern folk have had this contraption for years and it costs like $4 bucks to make ;)

I could see mixing up a huge thing of drinks in that container and then filling pitchers or whatever throughout the night from it. Other than that, I can't really see a use for it.

Good idea, but seriously overpriced and it looks like a mop bucket. You can buy a drink cooler with spigot for like $10 at any big box store.

This bucket belongs on the back of a public utilities truck, for that purpose it is most appropriate. Otherwise, have pride people. Have a little pride.

I definitely used one of these to mix bleach in to clean the bathroom floor at my movie theater job. No way.

I love the idea, but why does the container look like is used to hold dirty mop water?

i'm with digigirl and ElizabethRae. glass pitchers and carafes are cheap and plentiful at places like homegoods, crate&barrel outlet, etc, and even better, they fit in the dishwasher unlike a huge ugly bucket. i make a bunch of drinks at once with these that last the evening.

35 dollars? seriously? you can buy one of those at home depot/walmart for like 10 dollars and make your own labels in publisher.

chasingjamie, putting six gallons of boozy liquid into something always makes it pretty. That's my craft time.

also, you could totally turn this into a project and paint it and make it pretty. who doesn't love craft time?!

Agreed with digigirl and ElizabethRae - you can easily find something prettier to serve this function. Target has one for $15 - granted, it only holds 3 gallons instead of 6, but do you really need to hold SIX GALLONS? That's a LOT of liquid, and as ilanac13 pointed out, that would be insanely heavy. The one at Target can be found at

I think you could dress it up. Put it up a little higher than the food, put a cloth over it (with lid on of course) and set some more appetizers on top of that. Also it would work out well for taking large amounts to the beach/lake/picnic etc. Or just paint the sucker and put some cute trim on it, decoupage even!

digigirl beat me to it!! oops!

Agreed that it is useful but ugly. What I really like are those pretty glass dispensers that hold a lot but are cute. Like the ones here: I see them a lot at HomeGoods and they are to die for. I've also seen them in hotel lobbies with long thin cucumber slices and iced water. That site has one that holds 5 gallons! Sounds like the best of both worlds to me :)

I have a gorgeous glass one that is very large that I got at Sam's Club for only $24.95. Also, a slightly smaller (but still sizeable) clear plastic one I got there for $19.95. There are better options available than this ugly duckling!

This looks like something the janitor has in his closet for holding a cleaning solution for removing vomit stains. I'm going with "no" on this vote.

Who would pay $36 for an ugly bucket? I could buy an ugly 6-gallon bucket at Lowe's and a huge ladle at Target for $20 less and still not have to wash a whole bunch of pitchers at the end of the day...

i like the concept of it but i'm not sure if it's wasteful or not. besides - imagine how HEAVY that thing would be if it were full? i like the idea of not having to remix a million batches of drinks - but think about how much you'd have to put in just the one pitcher!

Hey, now I only have to clean one container instead of several pitchers.
