So You Think You Can Cook?

If you think you've got what it takes to be a celebrity chef, but Top Chef is too professional and Next Food Network Star not professional enough, then you'll be pleased to know that Rachael Ray is searching for you.

In a contest called "So You Think You Can Cook?" Rachael is looking to give a "real person" — not a trained chef — the opportunity to show everyone who they are and what they can do.

"I'm always telling people how my career was an accident," Ray told the AP. "I just wanted to sort of marry up the idea for the show that anybody who likes to cook could literally be Rachael Ray, the `30 Minute Meal' girl."

Out of all the candidates, Rachael and her producers will narrow the list down to five candidates. Those folks will enter two weeks of training and challenges before a winner is declared in November.

If you think you've got what it takes, enter now. The deadline for entries is Oct. 3.

I used to like RR but when someone becomes popular they, (especially Food Network) will have 10 shows on with the same person...........It really gets old. Does anybody remember when Emeril had his own sitcom? I was so burned out on him and they're doing the same with RR. And as for EVOO, why shorten it if you're going to explain what it means every time?

I think it may end up as just an ongoing segment on her talk show, but I could be wrong.

*Sigh*. So she's jacking the title from "So You Think You Can Dance," the concept from "Top Chef" and "The Next Food Network Star," and her only contribution is her name? She's got TV shows and cookbooks and albums and cookware and no doubt a line of prophylactics soon to hit the shelves ... I guess I can't blame her though. She's working her ass off and facing not a small amount of criticism (sometimes for ridiculous things, like her weight) and rumormongering. I don't like her, but she deserves all the fame she gets.

I don't think it's necessary to have yet another cooking reality competition. I think Rachael should just make this a segment on her talk show. After all, the winner gets to host the show for a day, so wouldn't it make sense?

I agree, sparkle sugar! I have one area I'm a pro in, my mom's! ;) I think every woman these days puts their own spin on classics, on which they grew up w/. I love experimenting w/ different cultures, different regions, but you can't own it like you can your mom's!

the show sounds fun!! i think i can cook!! haha but not all types of food obviously. i think its a bit ridiculous to expect a person to be able to cook asian middle eastern african western and everything in between. each person will always have one area they're especially good at! what do u guys think?
