Sriracha Vodka Review

You Have to Try This Sriracha-Flavored Booze

UV Sriracha Vodka ($12). This fiery spirit may not be made with our most-beloved hot sauce — rather, it's infused with a blend of chilies, garlic, vegetables, and, we suspect, some sugar — but given the cock sauce's legal troubles, we'll take what we can get. And we can imagine few better gag gifts for the sriracha-lover, as it actually holds some value beyond laughs (more on that later). Excitement aside, what does it actually taste like?

The pros: it's spicy, though not overwhelmingly potent, and it has a distinct pepper aroma (think green pepper or jalapeño) that smells like it actually comes from nature, not a laboratory. The cons: while sugar and garlic probably wouldn't mix well (the vodka is slightly sweet, making it easier to sip on), we wish it had a bit more of sriracha's signature garlicky sharpness and tang. Also, while the bottle glows bright red, don't let your eyes fool you; this spirit pours clear. Still, we have a feeling we won't have any trouble draining this bottle. It's billed as "the Bloody Mary's new best friend," and we also plan to use our bottle to spice up vodka tonics (heavy on the lime, please!), and craft it into an olive-heavy dirty martini. And if any more sriracha troubles surface, we may throw back a shot or two to calm our nerves.
