In news that further proves Starbucks Japan gets all the best menu items, we present you with the Sakura Blossom Frappuccino. Similar to the Cherry Blossom Frappuccino [2] released in the US last year, it's a pastel pink beverage that screams Spring and is topped with festive pieces of shaved chocolate "petals." It's reportedly the first Starbucks drink that has ever had crunchy Japanese rice pieces [3] on top, too (yum). The Sakura Blossom Frappuccino was released around the same time as the Starbucks Paul and Joe collection [4], a Japan-based lineup of whimsical coffee tumblers and accessories covered in similar floral patterns.
There's also the Sakura Latte for those who prefer a hot drink. It's topped with pink, cherry-blossom-flavored chocolate flakes that melt into the latte, and it has the same crunchy rice pieces on top. Following the release of these sakura drinks plus Japan's Cherry Pie Frappuccino [5], matcha pudding [6], and McDonald's Sakura McFloat in Japan [7], we're inspired to book a trip to Japan just to try all of the best international offerings. At least we have new Toasted Coconut Cold Brew [8] to hold us over this Spring and Summer.
