Great news for Starbucks [1]-lovers everywhere! You now have yet another item to add to your Summer Starbucks bucket list [2]: trifles, aka a layered dessert traditionally made of cake, whipped cream, and fruit. The limited-edition treats are part of Starbucks's new Sunset Menu — which also includes granitas [3] — that will be offered at participating US and Canada locations after 3 p.m. throughout the Summer.
So, what exactly are they? The pink one is a strawberry trifle made of vanilla bean scones, whipped cream, and strawberry drizzle. The chocolaty trifle is warm, double-chocolate brownies topped with whipped cream and mocha drizzle. Basically, these are like ice cream sundaes without the ice cream, and they're made with Starbucks pastries straight from the bake case. They're served in a cup just as they're pictured (but don't be fooled by the size — they're served in a baby-size cup used for mini Frappuccinos), and you eat them with a spoon. Ringing in at $3.45 each, the price seems a little steep for the size, but their richness makes up for it. If you have a sweet tooth, they just might be the perfect afternoon pick-me-up to go along with your iced coffee [4]. Which one are you more excited to try?
