We're Not Sure If Disney's Rainbow Ice Cream Is For Eating or Putting in an Art Gallery

Jul 15 2018 - 12:10pm

Shaved ice. Soft serve. Candy. All good things on their own, but even better combined! Luckily, this ultra-Instagrammable dessert from Tokyo Disneyland [1] and Tokyo DisneySea [2] checks all of the boxes. Available for only a month every Summer during the Tanabata Days ("Star Festival") celebration [3], Cream Shaved Ice is a rainbow-colored frozen delight that is almost as much of a treat for the eyes as it is for your tastebuds.

The base of the dessert drink is shaved ice flavored with either peach or a "blue jelly," which reportedly tastes like a fruity soda. On top of the ice is a soft serve ice cream, then rainbow-colored creme candy balls. If you're lucky enough to attend Tanabata Days and enjoy this limited-time menu item for yourself, you can find it at Rackety's Raccoon Saloon [4] behind Space Mountain and at other eateries throughout the Tokyo Disney resort.

Yum! We're not sure whether we want to eat one or hang a photo on our gallery wall, but suffice it to say that the Cream Shaved Ice is enough to tempt us into a Tokyo trip next June. In the meantime, we'll be drooling over these ridiculously colorful photos of the treat!
