What Do You Eat When Nobody's Looking?

Let's Dish: What Do You Eat When Nobody's Looking?

Yesterday, PartySugar admitted her secret single food is pasta with Parmesan, anchovies, and garlic. While I'm not single, there are plenty of foods that I'll eat if nobody else is around. I love any combination of starch and fat. Sheets of matzo slathered with salt and butter; a bowl of rice topped with shredded cheddar or American cheese and hot sauce; orzo with melted butter and pepper; or Velveeta mixed with salsa and any carb imaginable. This is only purportedly true, of course, since I've never actually been caught in the middle of downing any of these embarrassingly trashy foods. Do share: What do you eat when you eat alone? Don't worry — I promise not to tell!

When my DH is out of town, I munch on breakfast cereal straight out of the box in bed.

Ramen noodles with butter, cheese, and garlic and herbs, or different kind of seasonings. So good, but some people think I'm weird.

The only thing I really eat when no one is around are things straight from the container. I don't think it's the food itself just more so that I will stand in the kitchen and eat random things out of the jars. A spoonful of jam followed by a spoonful of PB. Cool Whip with PB. Honey and PB. Chips or pretzels and PB. Carrots and PB. Pretty much ANYTHING with PB.

If you are eating something when no one is looking only because no one is looking you have an eating disorder and/or are vain. You should probably think about that. What you eat is up to you. If you feel ashamed of it, why are you eating it?

Any kind of dough/batter, French-fried onions, or spoonfuls of cool whip :-)

Meant to say that the only reason I eat my concoction alone, or why I would eat anything privately is because I don't want to share :) OR, because I just happen to be by myself at that particular time.

I thought I was the only one who loves matso sheets slathered with butter and sprinled with salt. It is sooooo good and I wish I had some right now. I love Trader Joe's goat milk brie along with their 3oz cold smoked salmon packs they sell for a buck 99 each No biggie until one learns that I eat the whole wheel of brie an TWO of the salmon packs, AND 2 pears, AND a boat load of olives. I cut the pear and cheese up, squeeze lemon juice on the fish and add capers. Then I pour liberally hot asian chili oil all over everything. Good eat'n and I want to be alone when I do it.

When I was single, I loved omelettes made with eggs and loads of garlic, sauteed onions, and handfuls of shredded cheese! (No wonder I was single LOL). Now my hide-in-shame food is chocolate chip cookies sandwiched with Nutella and dunked in cafe au lait (OK, coffee with plenty of cream and sugar). :)

How about ... I don't care what other people think of what I eat ?

Yeah, I eat everything in front of other people, and I eat plenty of weird things/strange combos. My live-in bf is a somewhat picky eater (although he's improving), so we sometimes end up eating different stuff for the same meal of the day. And I've been known to have a can of smoked oysters for dinner, or sardines, or just half of a papaya with lime. But I don't think that food is anything to feel shameful about around others, so long as you take care of yourself and try to eat healthy most of the time.
