Antipasti literally means "before the meal" and is a typical first course in Italy, and it's is certainly not to be missed. While offerings vary, a sampler antipasto platter generally includes some sort of cured meat, such as bresaola, prosciutto, salame, or mortadella, as well as slivers of cheese, olives, and the like. We're particularly fond of busting out a well-curated platter at cocktail parties to ease the cooking load, or assembling the various components on a skewer for a fantastic finger food.
