What Would You Eat Before An American Idol Audition?

Our very own LilPeaPod is headed to Miami to audition for American Idol. She'll have to be up around 4:30am and will have a kitchenette with a microwave and fridge. There might be a grocery store nearby, so she won't have to rely on take out. What do you guys think she should eat for breakfast before her big audition?

i'd only be able to handle some tea or something. i can't eat so early in the morning.

Avoid dairy and anything greasy as this could hinder your performance- not good for the vocal chords!

She should stay away from dairy products, acid, I would eat a Banana, a piece of wheat toast with strawberry preserves (sugar free) and a hard boiled egg.

I would have a hot drink and after the try out celebrate with an eggs Benedict and mimosa brunch by the beach.

430 in the morning i would puke if i ate then.... i would bring a protien bar or an apple and some nuts so she has a snack when she gets hungrey

NO dairy! It's terrible for your voice. Eggs are probably fine, and will definitely give you some energy, but no cheese in them. If the cooking's being done in the room, I would say get some Egg Beaters that you can microwave.

I picked skip breakfast. I know you're not supposed to skip breakfast, but I personally would. You don't want to end up one of those people that gets nervous and throws up haha

all those things seem pretty thick. no dairy! dairy creates extra mucus in your throat. drink hot water with lemon, have some fruit

I went for the big breakfast. If she is going to be standing in that long line, she better eat well or come prepared with snacks.

egg white omelet (sp? doesn't look right) with toast.... something that will keep you full and not upset the tummy!

The last thing you want to eat is any type of dairy product. I used to go to Berklee and the vocalists would stay far away from dairy a few days before their performance. Dairy products increases the mucus in your throat causing phlegm, and we all know that's a vocalists' nightmare!

I agree with kiddy & vale-- I'd say an omelet is the way to go; you've got your protein without weighing you down; I'd stay away from dairy and I'd be afraid peanut butter would not settle well with the vocal cords. And be sure and pack a snack!! Good luck, LilPeaPod!!

it depends on how your stomach reacts- if you feel awake after a nice big meal go for it, but most people don't. I'd go for the pb sandwich and the fruit because it's a healthful breakfast and you'll have plenty of energy from the protein. and it's lighter than pancakes or bacon/eggs.

I'd go with an omelet with some vegetables, and a small piece of bread... And don't forget to take an apple and water if you get hungry! :) Oh, and GOOD LUCK at the audition!

Don't forget to take a little something with you in your purse cause chances are you'll be there awhile- so perhaps a Lars Bar :) or an apple and granola bar- and don't forget to bring water!

2 egg and spinach and tomato omelette (or use eggbeaters, maybe throw in a little fresh parmesan) with some wheat toast and raspberry jam. I'm no singer, but I've heard dairy can mess with your vocals, so I'd vote NO on cereal, yogurt, cream cheese and the like.

Granola and yogurt or PB sandwich. Something that will fill her up but not upset the stomach either. Eggs are particularly good if you can manage them.

Keep it light and simple but filling and good for you. I say a bagel.
