Would You Eat These Chicken Feet?

Last time I went out to dim sum with my grandmother, she ordered chicken feet and urged me to take one. While I appreciate the slippery, gelatinous texture of chicken feet every now and then, my sweetheart absolutely refused. "Chickens run around in filth," he said. "I eat with my eyes first, and the sight of a pair wrinkly chicken feet just grosses me out." How do you feel about it?

I have eaten them but like chicken skin, they're just gummy and not tasty; the only good part is the sauce - so I'll take a bowl of the broth/sauce and dunk my eggrolls or pork buns in it.

As my parents say, "There is always room for chicken feet!" It's really delicious and when cooked very well, you may forget what you're actually eating. The taste is dependent on the sauce, and the texture isn't as gelatinous as jello or pig snout. Maybe it's spitting the little bones that freaks people out.

I was afraid to eat them when I was very young, but at some point I did start eating them and they are good. Now I eat them everytime I go to dim sum.Dirt =/= germs. Not to mention, the growth of allergies probably has something to do with not being exposed to common unharmful particles due to the need for hygiene. And thus not ever becoming desensitized to it even though it's not harmful. So you get a reaction when you finally are exposed to it.Not to be crude, but sometimes chocolate stuff can look like poop if you think about it. But if you don't, you'll eat it.And finally, vegetarians...why are you even posting in this thread? It's not like you would eat these anyway.

I'd try them. I don't think it's any worse that eating any other part of a chicken but my two favorite foods growing up were crumbed lambs brains and corned tongue so I don't think I am the best judge...

The part that gets me when I go for dim sum with Chinese friends is the spitting out of the toe bones after they've eaten all the sauce, skin and gristly bits off them.

I've never thought to eat them plain, but I've used them to make stock before. I bet they're yummy though...they impart a lot of flavor to stock. And yes, they clean them. Geez, people eat chitterlings and shellfish, which are probably a lot ickier than a chicken foot.

I remember eating pig feet when I was a kid with my mom... and (from what I remember) they were pretty good. So I would try chicken feet too.

I'd eat them when I go out for dim sum. But it's sooo bad for you...it's all fat, sugar and salt.

I would try them, but I probably wouldn't like them that much. I'm pretty picky about my chicken. I generally only enjoy white meat.
