Would You Indulge In The World's Most Expensive Desserts?

Would You Indulge In The World's Most Expensive Desserts?

I'm not totally sure that I would pay $14,500 for a full vacation, but I do know that I couldn't justify that amount on a single dessert. Granted the Fortress Aquamarine does come with an 80-carat aquamarine gem, but still... If however, you find yourself with nearly 15 grand to spare, you'll be able to purchase this extraordinary dessert at Wine3 at the Fortress in Sri Lanka.

If 15k is a little out of your price range, then perhaps the $1000 Brownie Extraordinaire from Atlantic City's Brûlée is more your style? These two desserts, along with eight others have made Forbes Traveler's list of the world's most expensive desserts. Personally I can't figure out why it would be worth it. However you know if I had that sort of cash to throw around, I'd definitely have to see what it was all about!

lol thanks for the post (and the chuckle) yum. i was in the liquor store the other night and they had a $16,0000.00 bottle of scotch. all i could think was: the stupid rich should stop spending so much on chocolate and liquor and expensive hotels and donate money to charities!

For 14k or even 1k, it better be someting that I can enjoy for longer than a few mins! lol No way would I spend that for a dessert.

How much do you think that sucker costs WITHOUT the gem? Maybe $10.00 tops?

I kind of like the idea of the gold-dipped sundae that leaves you with gold in your teeth. It's not like I'd ever have the money for it (nor would I ever want to spend that on dessert), but I find it funny to think that you'd be picking gold out of your teeth after eating it.

What? 15k? $1000? What could they possibly be made of?

That doesn't even look like something you can eat.

Ha! I can just make Ghiradelli brownies from the box and I'll be happy, and I'll save about $997.86.

It's a sick world we live in where a freak'en DESSERT!!! costs 15K and there are MILLIONS of starving people in this world. I would be EMBARRASSED to order this.

If you love desserts, I think it might be interesting. It really isn't any different than someone spending $2000 on a purse. If you have the money you just end up buying another purse...so really it isn't too different.

I guess I'm just cheap.

I'm wondering if the desserts are any better than what you can get at your local bakery...probably not. I think its a stupid competition of how much gold and gems and other completely expensive, unneccessary ingredients can we throw on top of it.

I think it's cool. Why should everything be made for the masses? As someone mentioned, these are more like works of art... and as far as whether it's "worth it", it depends on how much you value the experience of a once-in-a-lifetime oppourtunity. I would try some of those if I could afford it!

I wouldn't waste my money on an aquamarine. But it could be a neat way to propose, using a diamond. I agree it's way over the top and I would never spend that much on a dessert. I don't even like spending 8 bucks on dessert lol.

I am a huge fan of dessert, but this is a little crazy. I guess if you are getting a beautiful gem and I had the money, I would indulge.

These are all very pretty works of art that I would never spend money on even if I had that to throw away. Its dessert! you eat it and it goes down the toilet eventually (sorry for the less then pretty vision). I wonder if they even taste good.

I love dessert, but this is ridiculous. I mean it looks beautiful and I like surprises (an 80carat aquamarine is Quite the surprise) but it's too much. Like others said, just b/c you have the money doesn't mean you should spend it like a crazy person. Have some self control. I wonder what the quality of the aquamarine is. I know htye scratch pretty easily, so if it's in with food, that might be kinda weird. It better be PERFECT for that price.

And yet, we still have hunger in the world. Disgusting! That doesn't even look satisfying. Give me a 3 scoop sundae from Baskin Robbins...now that's dessert!

As much as I love dessert, I love my money more, and would never be able to justify spending that amount of cash on something that would last about five minutes!!
