I can't believe how tied the vote is. I say BAGEL all the way!

If it's well-made, I would choose a croissant over a bagel. A good croissant is glorious. :)

BAGELS. I love them so much. I would totally marry one if I could.

Wow I thought bagels were not as fattening as a croissant although I know neither one would be appropriate for a diet since breads usually aren't, but I had no idea they were just as fattening or more fattening than a croissant! Good thing I prefer croissants, I guess. Maybe I will stick with toast ciaobella. ;)

Totally agree with Akasha. I just moved out of New York and am mourning my lack of bagel stores. However, I can find decent croissants at a few bakeries. I might need someone to send me a package from home... Lol

Bagels!!! Croissants are too buttery. My favorite is a jalapeno flavored bagel, cream cheese, with cucumber slices on top. =)

I love them both! I chose croissants though, because they are so buttery and fattening and right now I'm dieting and can't eat either.

croissants.i hate bagels.

Croissants are too messy and buttery-tasting. Bagels are much more of a blank slate. A large (67 g) croissant has 272 calories, while a plain bagel (100 g) has 320. So neither one is really a health food. I tend to eat mini-bagels, which have about 100 calories per whole bagel.

both!!!! pampire, bagels are extremely calorie-laden. i don't know about croissants, but bagels are by no means a diet-friendly breakfast. still love them though!

akasha took the words right out of my mouth! croissants are always at least decent, bagels can be a disaster!

I grew up on bagels, so I really love them. I'm not a huge huge fan of croissants--they're OK, but I find them too buttery for my tastes.

@pampire i'm not sure with the exact number of calories, but bagels is the equivalent of... i think it was 5 pieces of toast? someone correct me if i'm incorrect about this. and this is not counting cream cheese or anything other than plain bagel =( either way, i would go for croissants. i know it's not italian, but when i went on an exchange in italy, i ate one every morning and completely fell in love with european pastries =) PLUS! after the exchange, i was at my skinniest! i'm sure the croissant had nothing to do with it but hey a girl can dream ^_^

I love them both but I would pick a bagel.

Lately I go for a croissant but still love bagels. Depends on my mood and what's available where. I get picky about who makes 'em

Croissant for me but they are terribly fattening, the bagel would be a better choice as far as calories.

Bagel

I have to go with croissant since it's relatively easy to locate a good croissant, but outside of New York finding a great bagel is rather difficult.
