A type of British pastry that is nothing at all like pudding and more like a cross between a souffle and a popover. The puffy batter is prone to quick deflation and consists of eggs, milk, and flour. The batter is poured into a shallow baking dish, small ramekins, or muffin tins and is baked in a bath of beef drippings until golden brown. Yorkshire pudding is the typical side dish for English roast beef.
