Let's Dish: What Chain Restaurants Do You Eat At?

A question in the Village Voice's Ask the Critics column has got me thinking about chain restaurants. Do you eat at a lot of chains?

Although there's the occasional time I find myself at a chain restaurant, I generally avoid them. The large portions, standardized decor, and generic food don't appeal to me. If I'm going to spend money on a meal out, I want it to be delicious and original!

That being said, the chains I make an exception for are BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse and Hillstone. I've eaten at both more than once and wasn't disappointed. Hillstone's artichoke dip is one of the best I've tasted! How about you? What chain restaurants do you eat at?

I try not to eat out, but when I do, it's Chipotle, CPK (they're very vegetarian friendly, even have a veg guide on their site), occasionally Olive Garden, Cheesecake Factory... that's all that's coming to mind.

I typically don't like chain restaurants as much as the more local places. I do enjoy Carrabba's most of the time though and Grill Smith. I have been wanting to try Season's 52 also.

I prefer to eat at chain restaurants, because then I know what to expect. Although to be honest, since going gluten-free there are few places I can eat at. If I ate meat, maybe it'd be easier, but I'd much rather just cook at home!

yeah.. i am a consumer at the chains... chipotle, starbucks, mickey d's (for their fish fillets, ice cream cones, fries, and oatmeal), checkers, olive garden, bonefish grill,.... the list goes on and embarrasingly on.

And let's not forget the biggest one of them all: Starbucks!

Chipotle all the way. Also, I do love that pizookie at BJ's BrewHouse, and I am a sucker for Houston's.

hmmm...quite a few, since they are so close to my work. chipotle, qdoba, starbucks, noodles, quiznos, and panera. except for the occasional burrito, i don't really get too pumped about eating at any of those's more of a convenience thing. i don't really like any of the "sit-down" chains.

I think of myself as being partial to independant restaurants, but I actually do eat at Starbucks, California Pizza Kitchen, PF Changs, Chipotle and Noodles and Company.

I guess Chipotle would be the only one I would really get excited about. And Red Lobster cheese biscuits.

I love Champp's, they have the best veggie burgers!

If we had a Chili's I would be all over the chipotle bacon cheeseburgers, chips n' salsa and margaritas! I live in Canada and really love Earl's. I'm also a fan of a local upscale sushi 'chain,' and I'll go to Tony Roma's or Moxie's when I'm with the kids, but usually I do prefer independent restaurants.

A couple times per year, few things satisfy like a flamin' hot steak boo-ree-toe bowl from Chipotle. Same goes for the Twin Cities Burger at Smashburger with their incredible caramelized onion and garlic topping. :feedme:

I totally have a weakness for chain restaurants! I love the pizookies at BJs, and I'm not gonna lie, I eat at Chili's and Mimi's Cafe pretty much every chance I get.
