I like several types of sushi, I love maki rolls and spicy tuna is yum...I do get a little nervous to try some varieties, as I'm picky about which types of seafood I eat, but as I get older I'm trying to branch out a little more with what I eat. Overall, I think sushi is great and I love going out to Japanese restaurants with my girlfriends (who also love sushi)...I just wish my hubby liked it...

I looove sushi. And given that I have three sushi restaurants within a five block radius of my apartment, I don't think my city has a problem with it either. (I live in Seattle.) But people in the suburbs often do. Or, if they don't, they'll only eat sushi rolls, not any other style of sushi.

i used to hate sashimi b/c of a bad experience. but one time when my friend had a bday dinner at a sushi restaurant, they made the most amazing & delicious sashimis. now i can't get enough of it! if you're new to sashimi, a word of advice is checking out a restaurant's reviews before you try their sashimi to avoid any bad experiences.

I love sushi, myself. One shouldn't be so afraid to try something new, I think.

I'm a sushi addict! Every so often I turn to my girlfriends (or they turn to me) and say "so I think we need a sushi night next week" and we go all out! We can't do it as much as we'd like ($$) but it's so delicious! I live in a huge city (Toronto) and we have a pretty large Asian community. It's all about finding the small place that's sooo good! And if it's trying a new place, I agree with CaterpillarGirl - fresh fish doesn't smell fishy!

Boston loves Sushi! I have been hooked on it for the last six years I try to eat it at least four times a month. They are like little healthy treats (but packed with a lot of calories)!

I'd eat it every day if I could! Afford to, that is. I'm proud to say I have turned several sushi scaredycats into sushi lovers-with the help of my favorite restaurant which has never disappointed.

Here in the Mid-West (St. Louis, MO) there are still quite a few people who are scared of sushi - thinking that it's all raw fish. But we have 15-20 really good shushi resturants (that I know of), I'm sure that there are more that I haven't found yet. I try and convince people to go to sushi resturants at work every few weeks, I almost always get at least one newbie to try it. Sometimes, they just need help figuring out what to try and feel silly asking. (Although you should always feel like you can ask what's good today of your sushi chef!)

I LOVE sushi, I just wish it weren't so costly seeing as how I always end up eating a lot lol. I do think that sushi is slowly growing in popularity but I still do know a lot of people, including asians that are either scared of trying sushi or refuse to try it because it seems disgusting or gross. I for one will try anything once with a few exceptions (such as animals that I see as pets). I also think that sushi should not be eaten just anywhere, you definetly have to be a little picky when choosing sushi spots.

Ooh I have to add that I wouldn't eat sashimi just anywhere ... so I definitely stick to the cooked things if it's from a grocery store or random lunch counter - especially at college! I don't even eat it at certain restaurants unless someone else I know has eaten it there before and was ok ... it can be a dangerous territory!

I love sushi but I can't help but feel like people who don't eat sashimi aren't really "true" sushi appreciators! Although my favorites are usually salmon and yellowtail sashimi, I have recently gotten into the fatty tuna and THAT is my new favorite. But it really is an acquired taste and when I was younger, I was too scared to try it, so I stuck with California rolls. I think sushi is also really expensive, especially if you are going to a high quality sushi restaurant, and that is a huge factor for most Americans out there - b/c it doesn't seem like you're getting a whole lot of "bang for your buck" which is what our country is constantly on about, right? Deals, bargains, 99 cent whatevers at fast food chains, etc. I'm currently living in an English city without any sushi or Pho and it's seriously killing me. Whenever I visit my bf in London, we go to one of the conveyor belt sushi places and it helps me get my fix - I sound like an addict!

There are actually great sushi places here in Colorado but personally, I'm not much for it because I'm veggie. But I like some things, with a few modifications.
