On days you're craving a warm drink that's not coffee, hot chocolate is always the way to go. But while it's a cold-weather classic, sometimes the hot beverage just needs a little . . . upgrade. If you're nodding along and find yourself wanting something with an extra kick, then this Mexican spiced hot chocolate recipe is for you (and literally anyone else who likes delicious things).
The spiced drink takes no more than 10 minutes to make and can be completely personalized depending on your level of spice comfort. Prepare your Mexican spiced hot chocolate as you would if you were making traditional hot cocoa, then add your favorite spices like cayenne, chipotle powder, or paprika. To help balance out the heat, throw in dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg. And that's all there is to it! Ahead, find the full recipe as well as some photos for topping inspiration.
