As you may have guessed, we made this red, white, and blue cake for the Fourth of July — but there's no reason to wait to try it. The three towering layers of fluffy white cake might take at least half a day to bake and assemble: if you've never tried to make and ice a layer cake before, this is a great starter recipe because the cake doesn't crumb as you ice it.
