It's probably a good thing my landlord won't allow me to replace any of my light fixtures; otherwise, I'd be very tempted to drop a grand on something like the 19th C. Casbah Crystal Chandelier ($850-$1,395) from Restoration Hardware. The arresting, sparkling lantern, which is available in a few sizes, is strung with hundreds of multifaceted crystals, which are each polished by hand. The symmetry of the globe shape makes it a really versatile piece, which I could see in a few different places around my home. If only.
It turns out, there is a much more affordable option for those of you out there who are on the hunt for a new crystal chandelier.
Who would have ever guessed you could find a runner-up at Home Depot!? The Checkolite 8-Light Crystal Chandelier Light ($400) isn't exactly a steal, but it's a great bargain for a similar style. Unfortunately, it doesn't have that brass that gives Restoration Hardware's design an old-world, Moroccan look, but it certainly has shine to spare!
