Architectural Digest Selects Roger Thomas to Design Greenroom at the 2010 Oscars

Architectural Digest Selects Roger Thomas to Design the Oscars Greenroom!

The Oscars are really closing in on us! Architectural Digest has just announced that it has chosen interior and furniture designer Roger Thomas to create the Architectural Digest Greenroom at the 82nd annual event. The greenroom is the backstage lounge where all the Oscar presenters and honorees will relax and rehearse before their big stage debut at the Kodak Theatre. The choice seems fitting for Thomas, who says, "My fondest memories are cinematic moments. The films have as much to do with set design as they do the action."

On to the décor! To hear about Thomas's vision and resources for the room,

The room's base will be a paint-splattered floor with a black polish base, which was inspired by scenic departments of Hollywood studio lots. “It is a contemporary version of those that Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers would glide across in the 1930s," he says. As for the furnishings, he's chosen French pieces by Roche Bobois to give it a 1930s vibe, decorative Afghan rugs by Amadi Carpets, woven satin fabrics from Sunbrella's Luminous collection, and a few pieces from Restoration Hardware's new outdoor Klismos Cast Aluminum collection for a faux garden area. Thomas will also hand-paint a few one-of-kind pieces for the room with freestyle curves and shapes.

Sounds pretty glam to me! From the sketch, it looks like it'll be a really sophisticated room with referential Old Hollywood flair. If the presenters and honorees don't already feel special in their luxurious Oscar attire, I'm sure this room will do the trick!
