Casa Query: Do You Leave the Windows Open?

I love to leave my windows and doors wide open, so I can enjoy the breeze when I'm indoors and out. That is, if lovely Spring or Summer weather is in full effect, and it's not frostbite-temperature time. But, I recently had some house guests who did not share my sentiment, and I realized the house can feel a bit claustrophobic when it's sealed completely shut! It's also nice just to have air circulation, which I suppose otherwise you can just get with a fan.
Tell me, do you leave your windows and doors open? Or, do you live behind closed doors?

I leave my bedroom and bathroom windows open pretty much all the time. I definitely have trouble sleeping if I don't have that air flow, cool temperature and sound of the ocean coming in. If it's a nice day out, or the house feels stuffy, I'll open my sliding glass door for a few hours.

my apartment doesn't have central ac, instead I have window units, w which I usually have going. but sometimes I just like the fresh air coming in from outside.

in texas ac is essential but when i'm in college in nyc I always leave the window open there and my parents like to open the windows when its in the 60s/70s here in texas but the thing about that is so much dirt comes flying into our house. >.<

I usually only love my windows open at night in the summertime, or during the nice fall weather! Other than that, I live in an apartment building where just too much is going on and I hate hearing that noise.

As much as we can. I love hearing the birds and that fresh smell you get.

As open as possible with a curious indoor cat.

We leave them open but flies are always coming in since we don't have screens.

love my doors and windows open whenever possible! I'm so happy to be living in a climate where we can do this again! I especially love sleeping with the windows open.. mmm love that fresh air breeze. I hate a/c, would rather have fresh air anyday!

My bedroom window is open all the time, except when the air conditioner is running. I hate to run it when the furnace is on, but it gets unbearably hot and the rest of the house gets cold otherwise. For other windows, it depends -- but the back door is wide open for most of the summer, which my dogs love.

I have the windows open any chance I get, which at this time of year is in the mornings and at night. There's no use having them open when its 100 at 11 o'clock in the morning!

I LOVE to leave them open, and in our new house, we have to. We have no AC *gasps* ! This summer will be my test, I've never lived in a place that didn't have AC. We do have an in-ground pool which is our alternative.

Open windows until it gets so hot that I really need the ac.

Now that it's been getting pretty warm out, I've been leaving most of the windows open (as long as they have screens in them!)

I am a big time window open girl! I need air circulation, and I prefer fresh air to AC. Most people need AC to be on at all times, but I feel its a shame because I enjoy the outside air much more. I live in Baltimore, and of course on disgustingly hot/humid days I will use AC. But I prefer a window open and a fan blowing the air around. I thought I was the only person who actually liked windows being open.

oh, but my front door doesn't have a screen so it is closed all the time. too bad, since it would bring in a lot of light. this place is so dark!

i have my bedroom window open all year as i find that every single place i've lived it way too hot. i think this will change when i have my own place that is detached, though. i have a cyst in one of my sinuses so i am often stuffed up if there isn't a breeze or some air circulation. the problem with the one main window being open is that it leads to the backyard ( i am waiting for a nice day so that i can take a picture for Su Casa!) and if the landlady's daughter is out there she is yelping and screeching all the time...or the lady's husband is strumming on his guitar right outside our window when it is so hot outside! i feel very suffocated here in the basement suite. it is garden-level but still so squishy feeling. also, it is always so humid and muggy down here. the open windows help. they also help when we are cooking.

I live with the windows open for as long as possible. In Scottsdale, I even had a breeze going thru the house when it was 90+ degrees outside. Here in CT, the weather has been lovely lately and the windows are wide open. I even had a smile when I woke up this morning because it was raining and I LOVE listening to the rain. (Which we wouldn't have heard if the a/c had been on.)

My city is way too humid, too. The place where I lived for college was more arid, and my house had front and back screen doors, so I enjoyed the cool breeze most days. The current apartment is right next to the pool, and a lot of times (even weeknights) there are drunk people making noise and blasting bad music. I have a hard time blocking them out!
