Casa Query: Have You Lived With a Leather Couch?

There are some leather couches that are simply stunning and there are others that should stay in the frat house. I once lived in a house right out of college that had two separate leather couches (which were owned by two rather frat-like dudes). Those were definitely not crave worthy, and I have a feeling that some of you ladies have had to live with men who refused to give up their "cool" leather couches.

So tell me, have you had to live with a leather couch that didn't strike your fancy? Have you ever had a boyfriend or brother who was fixated on an ugly leather monstrosity? Tell me about it by leaving a comment below!

My mom has a fabulous black leather couch with tan piping that folds out into a bed. It is comfortable, gorgeous, and has a practical use too. Plus it has held up over the years very well- probably 10 years old at least now and still looks brand new. The only problem with leather couches is that in the summer you tend to stick to them. Ew.

Only the Corbu one would be allowed in my house.

My boyfriend used to have one and well, ya. It's not my style at all.

Casa, I had the same experience. After college, lived with three frat-esque guys who had YELLOW and GREEN leather couches. Yeccch. I had to put down a blanket before watching a movie because they were always freezing. But I quickly realized how advantageous they were in our specific situation, after I came down one morning (after a party) to two strangers asleep, in the buff! It was easy to clean/sterilize/use an entire bottle of Febreze on those couches. Ugh, I still shudder.

My roommate has a huge, ugly, GREEN sectional! It's so bad! The only reason he kept it is because, despite the ugliness, it's super comfy and didn't have marks or anything when he got it from the flea market. I've decided to get my own leather couch for when I get my own place - and it's not going to be green, no matter how great the price may be!

Oh man my parents have a massive leather couch in the family room, a smaller one and a really nice fancy chair (don't know how to describe it) in the living room. They are all really nice, classy pieces so it works well for the house esthetically, but I can't imagine ever buying leather furniture for my own place. I'm a vegetarian and it just seems so hypocritical to buy leather furniture.

Yeah, my parents owned them growing up :sigh: I did like the fact that it's easier to clean up after when I accidentally spilled something, but my hubby HATES leather sofa, he claims it's so uncomfortable so we're sticking w/ microfiber nowadays :D

Growing up, my parents had a set of leather couches. It did not strike my fancy. As far as interior design, it's not my taste. I LOVE leather shoes, handbags, and accessories, but not furniture.

I love my leather couch, tho it's more like a small sofa or loveseat, but I got a super good deal on it and it's super easy to clean and I just super love sitting on it.

I've never been a big fan of leather couches either. Although a nice, regal yet comfy leather chair would be nice (not a recliner) in a formal library for instance. I wouldn't have minded getting a leather couch when we moved out here to the desert (much less sweating going on), but since our cat still has claws it just doesn't make much sense to have one.

Never had leather sofas, thank goodness. Never liked them.

I have always HATED leather couches. Leather furniture period. It's just not me and will probably never have a place in my home. My husband has a leather recliner that's still at his mother's house...I know he wants to bring it to our house, but I'm hoping he'll forget!

I have the set of the Le Corbusier sofa/chairs in black, along with the Unica Leather chaise and a super sexy red Eames egg chair..and let me tell you there is nothing "unfabworthy" about these! They are sleek, and modern, and are simply amazing pieces of furniture, and art really! BUT they aren't the most comfortable to snuggle up to a movie on:)

My mother only likes leather couches. She says they wear better. And with raising two kids, its easier to clean off than cloth is. Especially with spills.

No leather sofa for us, but my husband won't part with his leather recliner. Luckily it's not hideous.

you have it backwards - I had a pair of fabulous Natuzzi green leather couches I inherited from my folks that my boyfriend (now husband) loathed. He's a sweat-er and was always getting stuck to the couch. I loved them b/c they were so easy to clean, and super comfy. They're gone now. I miss them.
