But if there's a color you love, nothing should stop you from putting it up on your walls. One way to get around that is to paint your walls in a high-gloss finish. The sheen of the paint will reflect natural light around the room beautifully — something that a matte paint simply can't do. This finish does make imperfections more visible though, so you should make sure to sand and smooth the surface thoroughly before painting.
