Cool Idea: Decorate Private Spaces First

"Always start with the private rooms [when decorating your house] — this way you'll learn to decorate for how you live, rather than how you'd like others to see you. Home is where the family is. Forget about the formal living and dining rooms and see how you live in the kitchen, in the family room — this will help you understand who you are and what your style is. Then, let that style inform how you decorate public rooms."

—Designer extraordinaire Charlotte Moss, in the current issue of Canadian House & Home

Well, in my home, there is little distinction between public and private rooms. Everything is designed with elegance and practicality. That idea is carried out everywhere (that's just how my home is. It's not about where others see how I live, or not see how I live). And yes, my design principle also applies to the most private places, like my closet, personal drawers, etc.

Interesting! I seem to do the opposite.
