Why You're Going to Fall in Love With HGTV's Good Bones

Cool Idea: Ikea Bookcase Turned Bar

AT:NY recently featured a house tour of readers Tyler & Jules's NYC home, whose digs have been featured twice before on AT and once on HGTV. The latest reincarnation of their home boasts gray and blue walls, colorful accents, and trendy patterns and furnishings; all in all, it's fun! But the one thing that stood out to me as really clever was their bar, which they crafted from an Ikea Lack Shelving Unit ($80) by turning it on its side and adding legs. Not only does the DIY piece look great, but it has a quite functional wide surface for mixing cocktails and four compartments for storing glasses and other supplies. The width of the bar makes it a real focal point and a destination, and they've made it even hipper looking with a modern wine rack.

Totally love. If I didn't have my grandmothers antique bureau/ server in my dining room - I'd go out and make this tomorrow. So cute, and GREAT place to display and hide glasses. I wish there was a place where we could save our favorite articles. I think this could be great in a lot of places and have a lot of different uses!

i looooooove this was also wondering where you get the legs from thanks animated punk! adore the idea of using this as a drinks bar but it could also have other uses like a table in an entrance way, a dresser or office desk ♥

I love this! I did something similar using a wardrobe door from the As-Is section. I added legs and turned it into a couch table. The legs are also from ikea - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40105302
