Cool Idea? Or Just Plain Dumb?

Who doesn't like to read in the bathtub? Antonio Lupi's Biblio free-standing bathtub has a bookcase built around it, to provide storage for all of your bathtub tomes. I love the idea, but can't imagine books weathering the humidity too well.

I love reading in the bathtub and this is a great idea but figuring out how not to ruin your books is another. I'd use it to store my kagillion bottles of shampoos, bubble baths and body washes and take out the products I'd want to use before my shower or bath.

Love the idea but just don't think I would use it for books.

it's just...odd. uh okay, it didn't occur to me that i could put something else on those shelves other than books LOL, so in that case, it's gone from odd to awesome =P

It's a bit much for a tub. The first good soak and the books are ruined. SM

I agree with ashleybear.

I love the idea but i think the books would get all wet and ruined

It's a great storage idea for lots of things, but not books.

the shelving idea is brilliant! You could put all sorts of extra things in it, fresh towels, lotions, shampoo, it could be beautiful and soooooo functional. It would be fantastic in a guest bathroom. Or in a childs bathroom bath toys could go on the shelves.

I can see this as an accident waiting to happen if I were to put books in it. I like linb's idea of extra storage for toiletries, though :)

If I took baths, I would love this. I wouldn't use it for books, but would use it as extra storage for towels and other toiletries.

Definitely store lotions and shower gels. For mags and books I would get one of those mag racks that you can mount on the walls.

agreed, lotions, ornaments and so on would look nicer than books.

I would find some pretty bottles for my lotions, bodywash and such. That would be a pretty display!

~ Piggybacking from a different Casa post: You could house fresh cuttings from a eucalyptus plant on one of the shelves. ~ :o)

I wouldn't shelve books there. (I make a sloshy wet mess when I bathe.) But I never read in the tub (I enjoy my tubtime in other ways), so I'm clearly not the target market for this offering. I could use the shelves for other things. Ultimately, I wouldn't seek to purchase this model if I were looking for a new bath, but I wouldn't complain about the extra storage if this tub happened to be installed in my home.

It would be neat, but I would be worried about the humidity too!

I have a small bookcase in my bathroom where I keep the current book I'm reading for when I take a bath, and magazines and stuff. This would be so cool to have.

Its great but I would put like lotions and bubble bath and other things- maybe magazines. I don't see books standing the humidity either.
